Antique English Reticulated Chased Sterling Silver Mappin Brothers Basket
This beautiful reticulated and chased antique English Mappin Brothers sterling silver basket is a little gem. It is highly worked and dates from 1900, the late Victorian period, It was made in Birmingham, England. The basket carries a complete set of English hallmarks. With an interesting oval and scalloped shape, the basket features a reticulated star-like pattern on its sides and stippled ornate cartouches at each of its compass points. There are some small dents on the bottom surface, which do not detract at all from its overall presence. Given its age, there is minimal surface wear or scratching. It is in extremely fine antique condition.
