Antique Imperial Russian 84 Silver Art Nouveau Cigarette Case

This item is out of stock

A fabulous and heavy Art Nouveau Imperial Russian 84 silver cigarette case that is marked with the first Kokoshnik mark of 1896-1908.  It is engraved with curvaceous and naturalistic floral motifs, typical of the period.  The inside originally had a gold wash vermeil applied to its surface, that is still faintly visible.  Its clasp is detailed with a marquis shaped garnet and is strong and secure.  The hinge is in excellent working condition.  The case has a dent on one corner that is more dramatic in the photos than in real life.  There is also a flea bite nick on the back surface of the case.  Surface scratches are consistent with its age and use.  The case is in good antique condition.
