Daum France Pate de Verre Kallisti Figurine by Fassianos
A beautiful Daum France frosted pate de verre art glass figurine of Kallisti by Greek artist Alexander Fassianos (born Athens, 1938). It is detailed with gold accents. According to Greek mythology, Eris, the goddess of discord, tossed a golden apple into a banquet to which she was not invited. Kallisti, "for the fairest one", was inscribed on the apple. The ensuing quarrel between Hera, Athena and Aphrodite, who each considered themselves the recipient of the golden apple, eventually led to the Trojan War. This figurine is in excellent vintage condition and dates from the late 1980's.
